Responsibilities

Mayo Collaborative Services, LLC (MCS) is a carve-out stand-alone business of Mayo Clinic, that encompasses several independent business lines, the largest of which is Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL). MCL is the third largest commercial reference laboratory in the United States, touching 4.5 million patients each year through over 4,000 healthcare organizations in more than 80 countries. In addition to operating MCL, MCS is intended to evolve into a diversified medical diagnostics business by also developing and growing other business lines whose products and services are or will be offered commercially to healthcare providers, the biopharmaceutical industry or other healthcare industry segments.

The Chief Growth Officer (CGO) is focused on developing, MCS’s growth plan and developing and facilitating the strategy for execution of the plan. Utilizing medical knowledge and high-level business, marketing, and sales acumen, the CGO will drive competitive growth through proactive relationship building and pursuit of new business opportunities aligned to the overall strategic objectives of transforming MCS into a diversified medical diagnostics business. The CGO will have the ability to align all business lines within MCS; forming an end-to-end view of the view of the business. The CGO will have the ability to hit the ground running, propelling fast change with a growth-mindset.

Organizational Requirements

  • The primary work location will be Rochester, MN 
  • Moderate travel required to Mayo Clinic’s sites and other business related venues

Accountability 

The Chief Growth Officer reports directly to the CEO and is supported by the MCS Executive Team. The Chief Growth Officer also works closely with Mayo Clinic Corporate Development senior leaders in other Mayo Clinic departments as well as counterparts in external organizations based in the US and internationally



Qualifications

  • Holds an MD or equivalent degree and has experience as a practicing physician
  • Bachelor’s & MBA focused in Management/Entrepreneurship/Finance
  • Proven track record of advising, identifying, and leading merger and acquisition activity
  • Demonstrated success as an executive leader capable of leading change at complex and mature Fortune 500 companies
  • Successive growth in leadership, responsibility, influence, and seniority within corporate business environments
  • Demonstrated ability to form long-term strategic business relationships
  • Healthcare related business transformational strategy formulation and execution experience
  • Identify and communicate with potential investors, partners, and prospective clients to generate new revenue pathways  
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate complex concepts and messages with senior management and members of board of directors
  • An understanding of healthcare globally, key market drivers, execution levers and opportunities to lead constructive market disruption
  • Experience working in international healthcare markets on both business and clinical roles, across emerging and developed markets
  • Expertise across various domains of healthcare, including medical device/technology, care delivery innovation, consumer health and technology, and payor landscapes
  • Robust understanding of emerging healthcare innovation and delivery trends
  • Excellent communication, network and influencer skills, including the ability to work effectively in a new business unit environment and matrixed organizations
  • Successful track record in diverse talent development and team performance excellence 
  • Proven track record of recruiting and developing talent and building high-functioning and diverse teams
