The department is responsible to build, grow and protect Mayo Clinic's reputation in a way that shapes the external environment and nurtures the culture to help achieve the mission of the organization. Department functions consist of reputation management including thought leadership and issues/crisis response; client communications and engagement programs; staff engagement; content and channels; government and community engagement; strategy and insights; communications services. The specialist understands Mayo Clinic business objectives and priorities and participates in creating and implementing plans to meet those objectives. The specialist supports client needs and partners with other department team members to drive and measure outcomes. Must develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organization's mission.

The specialist is skilled at building and nurturing relationships across a matrixed healthcare organization and can translate highly complex topics into clear, actionable communication strategies. This role requires someone who can both develop and implement strategic communications plans—tailoring messaging to specific audiences, selecting the right channels, and measuring outcomes against defined goals. The specialist thrives in an agile environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and brings a thoughtful, outcomes-driven approach to every assignment.

This position is 100% remote; can work from anywhere from the U.S.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 1 year of relevant work experience. Related internships will be considered. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies. Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results.
