Responsibilities
The Medical Dosimetrist strives to develop and produce radiation oncology treatment plans per physician prescription. A Medical Dosimetrist works diligently with the Radiation Oncologist utilizing all available computerized and/or manual treatment planning tools, and researches patients' needs and develops the best treatment plans for the their patients. Medical Dosimetrists perform all related radiation dosimetry functions that include treatment consultation and imaging. As assigned by the supervisor, Medical Dosimetrists participate in departmental meetings, assist in the teaching of medical residents, physics residents and therapy students. Participates on special task groups as directed. Medical Dosimetrists perform all related radiation dosimetry functions that include but are not limited to treatment consultation, imaging, fusions, contouring, three dimensional planning, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, proton planning and emergency treatment planning.
This is a hybrid position after the initial onboarding period.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Medical Dosimetry position must hold CMD Certification through the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board. Candidates may also have graduated from an approved Medical Dosimetry Program through the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists AAMD and have obtained MDCB board eligible status. The MDCB board exam must be passed within two years of employment as a Medical Dosimetrist. Continuing education hours are required to maintain the registered status to include 50 hours in a five-year time frame for CMD.
Dosimetrist position requires an ability to learn and apply complex procedures, ability to communicate effectively, sound decision making and judgment capabilities, strong human relation skills and strong organizational skills.
