Responsibilities
As an Education Program Coordinator you will be managing the day-to-day operations of one or more residency/fellowship training programs and play a key role a member of the education leadership team. Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting in supervision and giving direction to trainees in accordance with the MSGME, accrediting organizations such as Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), specialty boards, and subspecialty boards to ensure program compliance.
- Performing duties independently and initiating judgment in handling a variety of program management issues and communications.
- Overseeing the coordination of the recruitment, orientation and graduation processes; facilitating the evaluation process; preparing and maintaining documentation for program accreditation.
- Providing ongoing information concerning changes (and opportunities) in both internal and external educational initiatives.
- Supporting ongoing program quality assurance initiatives.
- Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Associates degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an academic and/or healthcare field required, OR
- Bachelor’s degree
Additional Qualifications
- Prior experience at Mayo Clinic providing academic program management is preferred.
- Experience working in a health care setting demonstrating strong leadership, team building and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external disciplines required.
- Must have proven organizational and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and analyze information to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Ability to provide budget oversight and management.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong independent decision making and judgment skills.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to develop timelines, shift priorities, multitask and work independently.
- Self-starter with ability to take initiative to solve problems and improve processes.
- A broad-based knowledge and proficiency in computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheet/database, electronic calendaring/scheduling systems, and web-based applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- TAGME (Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education) Certification or working knowledge of certification requirements is beneficial but not required.
