ResponsibilitiesThis position supports the HTM department for all of Mayo Clinic locations including Phoenix, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; Rochester, MN and Mayo Clinic Health System. It can be primarily a remote work position however, the incumbent must live within driving distance of a Mayo Clinic campus.
This position independently manages multiple medium or single department-scale PCCS projects from inception to close, including risk identification and mitigation, quality assurance and change control.
Responsible for preparing and providing design and construction related documents, working cooperatively with Facilities & Support Services, project managers, construction managers, outside consultants and HTM, required to support construction and the installation of the Patient Care Communication System (PCCS) and related infrastructure systems. Works collaboratively with Tech Specialist I, Design Engineers, Design Technicians, and Facilities & Support Services to create and maintain institutional standards including construction specifications, reference standards, design guidelines, drawing symbology and database drawings. Serves as a technical resource to outside consultants and HTM.
- Leads process improvement or new business service implementation.
- Leads proactive communication between and among business proponents, stakeholders and departments.
- Contributes to the improvement of project design and delivery process including an understanding and application of building codes, life safety codes, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Reports department measurements and communicates metrics on activities.
- Broad general knowledge of information technology and institution activities.
- Develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case.
- Routinely interacts with vendors and provides technical interpretation for required services.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer operating systems, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and other computer software applications required.
QualificationsThe individual must have an understanding of electrical or architectural plans used in a hospital or clinic and how it is used for patient care and:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience working with medical equipment in a hospital or clinic environment OR
- An Associate’s degree from a technical school, college OR
- Biomedical Equipment Technology training from an United States military branch, and 5 years of experience in a biomedical technical field or strongly related technology related field OR
- A high school diploma and 7 years of demonstrated leadership, technical, or project management related experience at a large, complex organization like Mayo may be considered in lieu of the degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Additional or advanced degrees in technical, business, or management areas are beneficial. Strong leadership, communications, and organization skills are essential. Must be skilled in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software. Other skills such as financial, business processes, budgeting, and continuous improvement would be helpful.
Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. Citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Also, Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
