Why Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic is top-ranked in more specialties than any other care provider according to U.S. News & World Report. As we work together to put the needs of the patient first, we are also dedicated to our employees, investing in competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit plans – to take care of you and your family, now and in the future. And with continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with Mayo Clinic.

Responsibilities

As a nonprofit healthcare organization, Mayo Clinic relies on philanthropy to advance our mission: solving the world's most serious and complex medical challenges — one patient at a time. Grateful patients provide a significant majority of gifts, and benefactors designate gifts to research, education and practice as well as capital projects. High-quality care, the relationship between physician and patient, and many people throughout the organization contribute to our philanthropic efforts.

The primary purpose of the undergraduate internship is to provide an intern with experiences relevant to their field of study and acquaint them with the core principles of fundraising at Mayo Clinic. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction and guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the department. In addition, the intern will be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments for Mayo Clinic. The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern.
The primary work assignment for this internship will be to assist with enhancing and revising the Department of Development’s orientation program.
