Responsibilities
Neurosurgery Specialist assists the neurosurgeons in the performance of any surgical procedure working under the surgeon's direction. This involves developing an understanding of human surgical anatomy, learning surgical skills and proper use of stereotactic and image guided instruments and positioning of patients. Participates with surgeon during pre-operative planning and intra-operative implementation of image guided surgery. Monitors the technical portion of the procedure to ensure safety and effectiveness. The Neurosurgery Specialist will develop the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon with respect to the requirements of a neurosurgical procedure.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the sciences, healthcare, or biotechnical study plus 5 years of healthcare and/or biotechnical experience required. Additional training as a Surgical Assistant or Technologist or equipment servicing of operating room /medical equipment is desirable. Familiarization of medical terminology, medical practices, and human anatomy is required. Ability to achieve and maintain attention to detail is required.
