Responsibilities
The nurse manager provides the assigned care unit with leadership and operations management consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the department with support and direction of the Director of Health Services. The nurse manager responsibilities are in addition to job description of the Charter House RN. Charter House's mission is to provide the best care through practice, education, and research. The nurse manager directs the activities of the registered nurses. The nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing, and evaluating is the basis for all care delivered by the registered nurse. The nurse manager is accountable for planning, directing and coordinating the delivery of direct resident care and for the supervision of the nursing care provided by professional and ancillary nursing personnel. The nurse manager collaborates and communicates with interdisciplinary health care team members, residents, and family/significant others to meet the care, educational and discharge needs. Adheres to Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and Nurse Practice Act. Support and engagement in dementia care is essential; dementia training for staff exceeds state requirements.
Qualifications
A graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN level of education and with a current Minnesota registered nurse license OR an Associate Degree in Nursing with 3 years of long-term care experience. Master’s degree in nursing, business or a health-related field preferred. Long term care experience preferred. Must be able to work independently. Requires good communication and human relation skills to interact with staff, residents and families/significant others. Strong problem-solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, compare, sort, and prioritize information to be used in the decision-making process for groups of residents and employees. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress. Works flexible hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Maintaining current CPR certification is required. Previous nursing experience with in long term care, including dementia care, assisted living, home health or acute care nursing is preferred. Minnesota registered nurse license. CPR Certification.
