Responsibilities
Trauma Centers have a vital role in reducing the impact of injury by leading prevention efforts. The Injury Prevention Coordinator for the Mayo Clinic Rochester Trauma Center coordinates and disseminates informational programs and activities related to the prevention of injuries in all age groups. This person will demonstrate collaboration with or participation in local, regional, state, and/or national programs. The direction of injury prevention activities will be guided by data from the Trauma Center registry database and other pertinent data sets. This position will also adhere to all of the requirements outlined by the American College of Surgeons on Trauma "Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient". As the Level 1 trauma center and Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the southeast Minnesota region, Mayo Clinic Rochester Saint Mary's Campus is expected to take a lead role in injury prevention activities. The Injury Prevention Coordinator will provide the direction needed to see that this occurs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing, community health education, or public health. Demonstrated experience in injury prevention at Mayo Clinic or health promotion activities preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking. Experience with research projects preferred. Child passenger safety experience preferred. Preferred but not required: CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist), MCHES (Master Certified Health Education Specialist), MS (Master of Science) OR MEd (Masters in Education).Must have and maintain a valid Minnesota driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy. Child Passenger Safety Technician certification within one year of hire. Child Passenger Safety Instructor certification within three years of hire.
