Responsibilities

The Department of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a Pediatric Electrophysiologist to join our practice.

The pediatric congenital electrophysiologist would join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology within the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, with a joint appointment in the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, Division of Heart Rhythm Services. The role would include shared responsibilities for inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology care with our current pediatric electrophysiologist. Applicants interested in invasive electrophysiology are preferred, though candidates with interest in primarily non-invasive EP will be considered.

Division of Pediatric Cardiology

Parents seeking the best treatment for their children with congenital (present at birth) heart disease have turned to Mayo Clinic Pediatric Cardiology for more than 60 years. Each year, clinic doctors evaluate and treat thousands of children and teenagers with congenital heart problems.

The Mayo Congenital Cardiac Program is comprised of 15 pediatric cardiologists, 8 adult congenital cardiologists, and 2 congenital cardiac surgeons devoted to the care of patients with congenital heart disease from the fetus through adulthood. The pediatric electrophysiologists have joint appointments with the adult cardiology heart rhythm division, to facilitate care of arrhythmias in young adults with congenital heart disease and thus have access to novel and innovative technologies in use in adults.  Mayo Clinic has a long tradition of having very active congenital cardiac surgical and cardiac transplant programs, and it is one of the leading centers for arrhythmia management and genetic heart rhythm diseases.

Qualifications

Candidates must be board certified / board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology with the American Board of Pediatrics and have subspecialty training in pediatric electrophysiology. Candidates must also be licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of Minnesota. IBHRE certification / eligibility for pediatric electrophysiology or cardiac devices is recommended. Ideal candidates should have excellent clinical skills and expertise in pediatric electrophysiology. This would include performance of electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, and implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators as well as reading ECGs, ambulatory monitors, and device interrogations. This individual should also have a strong interest in education and clinical research.

Compensation Detail

The minimum starting salary for medical specialties may range from $194,250 to $616,000. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
