Responsibilities
The Recycling Processor is cross-trained in all of the duties at the recycling center. Those duties include sorting, processing, and baling recyclables; operating forklifts and heavy equipment (tellehandler, wire stripper, computer operated paper shredder); maintenance of equipment and tools; organizing and inventorying commodities; recycling obsolete equipment and recoverable construction/demolition waste; loading and unloading semi- and recycling trucks; providing direction to Ability Building Center contract personnel; cleaning and organizing the work space; as well as, light office duties including answering telephone questions concerning the recycling process. At times, the processor may go to areas under demolition to supervise the handling of recyclable materials and to assure that items are disposed of properly. The processor must be knowledgeable about what is hazardous waste, general waste, regulated medical waste, and recyclable.

Qualifications
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency required. Valid Drivers License required. DOT certification required prior to hire date.
Additional Qualifications:
- Good organizational skills.
- Decision making and problem solving skills essential.
- Ability to work independently and adapt rapidly to new situations.
- Ability to maintain Mayo policies and procedures while remaining decisive and creative in carrying out the functions of the recycling program.
- Exercise constant safety consciousness.
- Able to consistently lift 30 pounds and can be on ones' feet more than 50% of the time, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience operating various power tools.
- Forklift driving experience preferred, able to acquire forklift certification within 30 days of hire.
- Truck driving experience preferred.
- Warehousing experience beneficial.
- Waste and recycling experience preferred.
- Mechanically inclined. Note: Occasionally handles hazardous materials and regulated medical waste, with the potential for exposure.
- Seasonally works in conditions of high and low temperatures.

$20.57 - $28.62 / hour *This position also includes a shift differential of $1.90 / hr for weekday night hours and $3.65 / hr for weekend night hours.
