ResponsibilitiesOur enhanced critical care program connects critical care patients, families, nurses, and physicians with specialists from Mayo Clinic 24x7, enabling real-time consultations and broad application of evidence-based care.
Enhanced Critical Care Telemedicine:
The Enhanced Critical Care consists of telemedicine monitoring technology in which nurses and intensivists remotely monitor critically ill patients from the Enhanced Critical Care Operations Center. The health care team collaboratively works with other physicians, nurses, NPs or PAs at the other healthcare sites. The system is encompasses a software platform that incorporates patients’ healthcare records, vital signs, audiovisual feeds to assess the patient, with decision-support tools networked across multiple hospitals. The Enhanced Critical Care Operations Center is staffed by critical care nurses, intensivists, NPs and PAs. The telemedicine critical care beds are monitored by critical care nurses and a critical care intensivist along with a NP or PA, both stationed in the Rochester Enhanced Critical Care Operations Center (eICU-COR) in the Eisenberg building.
The registered nurse (RN) on Eisenberg Station 10-5 is accountable for the delivery of indirect care and monitoring of critical care patients outside the Mayo Rochester campus. The applicant must possess excellent communication skills, specifically via video or electronic means. Applicants must excel at multi-tasking, working in ambiguous situations and be self-directed. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.
QualificationsGraduate of a baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Arizona and Florida - Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Midwest - Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Positions that are not on campus may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency as determined by the work area.
