Responsibilities
The laboratory of Dr. W. K. Eddie Ip at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN USA is recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow to study alternations in the interplay between metabolism and innate immune system that occurs with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), following up on our recent studies published in Cell Reports, Science,and Nature Communication. This includes examinations of cellular metabolic and epigenetic changes in the innate compartments of the gut using our mouse models of IBD, and the impact of these changes on the mucosal immunity and tissue homeostasis. The laboratory is dedicated to identifying scientific breakthroughs that further our understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of intestinal health and disease.
Duties involve the following tasks:
• Conduct laboratory research in mucosal immunology projects
• Design and perform experiments; collect and analyze data
• Prepare comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols, and presentations.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Engage in scientific communication at conferences and training of junior lab members
Qualifications
Candidates should have recently obtained PhD or MD/PhD in immunology or related fields, have a strong publication record and demonstrated experience working with mice. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and area of expertise, including flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, intestinal tissue cell isolation, mucosal immunology, and gene transcriptional/epigenetic regulation. We are seeking a candidate with excellent writing and communication skills, and demonstrated aptitude for carrying out independent research.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
