Responsibilities
The Senior Director is responsible for sustaining and maturing a vibrant culture of safety in which high-quality patient care transport is provided. This position directs and supports MCAS, which is inclusive of air and ground operations, as well as the Emergency Communications Center. Work involves planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of EMS operations while staying abreast of controlling laws, ordinances, and regulations that affect the organization's operation. The Senior Director provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure MCAS has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The position includes responsibility for operational practices and procedures, involving planning, organizing, implementing, directing, and controlling all activities. The Senior Director must motivate and lead a high-performance management team, participate in local, regional, and national activities as directed, and work closely with community and state leaders to provide education and exposure related to the needs of medical transportation services.
The Senior Director operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment requiring frequent collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Travel may be necessary to oversee operations across various locations. Flexibility is required to address emergencies and provide leadership in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Operations Management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field is required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in EMS, healthcare operations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior management role. Proven track record of managing large-scale operations, including air and ground ambulance services and emergency communications dispatch. Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, and regulatory compliance. Strong experience in team leadership, employee engagement, and organizational development. Comprehensive knowledge in five major areas: medical transport operations, management principles, business administration, product development, and reimbursement. Familiarity with advanced EMS technologies, dispatch systems, and performance analytics.
License/Certification
Current or eligible for Minnesota RN license or Minnesota certification as a Nationally Registered EMT or Nationally Registered Paramedic are required. Incident Command System (ICS) completion (e.g., ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300) is preferred.
