Responsibilities
The Senior Director – Business Resilience reports directly to the Chair – Risk and is a member of the senior management team within the Risk department. The Senior Director – Business Resilience is accountable for leading efforts to design, build, and manage the operational aspects of business continuity and emergency management activities throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise. The Senior Director is responsible for developing and maintaining an enterprise-wide risk-based framework for identifying, assessing, and mitigating a broad range of threats before they disrupt technical and procedural business operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and managing strategic and collaborative relationships with the team.
- Defining both technical and procedural business expectations.
- Overseeing the design and maintenance of leading practice technology, processes, tools, and analytics to support effective risk management and compliance.
- Oversee personnel management, including the coaching and mentorship of staff.
- Act as the primary representative, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy through participation in institutional committees and groups.
- Developing and maintaining internal and external client/vendor/peer relationships.
- Managing the function's budget and resources.
- Working directly with and supporting peers and partners to drive the enterprise risk mitigation model forward, which includes Intelligence, Data, Policies, Standards, Procedures, Communications, Training, and Education.
- Ensuring appropriate processes are in place to ensure Mayo Clinic is compliant with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Available to respond to emergencies on an on-call basis, providing stakeholder expertise with backup support of a trained deputy.
The Senior Director must possess excellent analytical, business writing, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and requests with intense deadlines. They must demonstrate a high level of integrity and maintain confidentiality. The Senior Director will be considered the subject matter expert and will be required to maintain a significant level of technical expertise and knowledge in their subject matter area, acting as a resource to internal and external committees and staff. Experience within large distributed/matrixed organizations is essential.
The Senior Director will have significant autonomy in performing the duties of the position, working independently with routine engagement and input from higher-level leadership. They will be responsible for business process design, creation of policies, and procedures, and providing input to risk assessments and business plans.
*This position is a 100% remote work. Individual may live anywhere in the US.

Qualifications
A master’s degree in business Continuity, Organizational Resilience, Risk Management, Business or IT-related field with eight years of experience in business continuity, IT disaster recovery or related risk program management is required.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders. Strong understanding of finance, business processes, budgeting and human resources. Must have experience with committee and consensus-managed, physician-led organization. Experience with personnel management, resource allocation, coaching and mentoring. Must have working knowledge of project management and quality improvement concepts and principles, with proven ability to work within complex projects, using agile methodologies. Must be resourceful and willing to exercise personal initiative. Must have strong understanding of continuity professional practices, standards and regulations. Demonstrated ability to build effective, cohesive and collaborative team. Must have strong demonstrated ability to skillfully hire, develop, lead, motivate, performance management, and coach a cross-section of professionals and managers.
Licensure or Certification:
Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Certified Healthcare Provider Continuity Professional (CHPCP), Certified Business Resilience Manager (CBRM), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Certified Healthcare Provider Continuity Professional or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or comparable certification required within one year of hire.

$181,604.80 - $272,417.60 / year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
