Responsibilities

Supervises and directs professional and support staff for the Revenue Cycle ensuring effective use of employees, equipment & materials within budget & quality standards. Responsible for full spectrum of human resources and operational functions and workflows, including but not limited to performance management, attendance management, training, and quality. Identifies trends, performs tactical planning and carries out strategic plans. Ensures staff has the resources to carry out their responsibilities. Optimizes staff productivity and service; resolves work place problems of team and processes; develops policies, procedures and guidelines. Possesses the technical knowledge of the function being supervised. Implements retention and recruitment planning initiatives. Participates in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in Enterprise-wide projects, work groups, task forces, councils, and committees. Serves as liaison between area of responsibility and other constituents inside and outside of Mayo. Acts as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of supervision, members of the management team, and different sections within the Revenue Cycle and multiple areas outside of the Revenue Cycle. Maintains expert knowledge of workflows within the scope of responsibility and optimizes the use of available technology. May require occasional travel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the transplant prior authorization team, optimizing staff productivity and service.
  • Training and Development: Ensure staff is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills in transplant regulations, payer requirements, and clinical workflows, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Operational Oversight: Identify trends within the transplant authorization process, perform tactical planning, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Resource Management: Ensure staff has access to the resources needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to transplant authorization, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the transplant prior authorization team and other constituents, both internally and externally, to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert in transplant prior authorization processes, providing guidance to management and other sections within the Revenue Cycle.
  • Enterprise Involvement: Participate in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in enterprise-wide projects, workgroups, task forces, councils, and committees focused on transplant services.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze authorization metrics to inform decision-making and improve processes, ensuring the best outcomes for patients and efficient workflow management.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Implement retention and recruitment planning initiatives to build a skilled and cohesive team.

Maintains expert knowledge of workflows within the scope of responsibility and optimizes the use of available technology to enhance service delivery in transplant prior authorization. 



Qualifications

High School diploma and 5 years of relevant management experience 

OR 

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of relevant financial experience 

OR 

Master’s degree required.

Preferred skills: 

  • Transplant Prior Auth experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Familiarity with transplant regulations and payer requirements
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex authorization issues and address challenges
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Be able to cultivate a positive team environment and encourage team engagement and support for changes and initiatives 

Possesses PC skills, both keyboarding and applications. Knowledge of and experience with Finance systems and applications preferred.
