Responsibilities
We invite applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the cutting-edge Bioelectronics program in the laboratory of Prof. Suman Bose (Dr. Suman Bose Bio) at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Our lab is at the forefront of developing next-generation, cell-based therapies, integrating biomaterials science, cellular engineering, and bioelectronics to address critical challenges in treating human diseases.
This position focuses on pioneering bioelectronic implants that seamlessly interface with engineered cells to enable precise, controlled drug delivery. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to lead pre-clinical testing in disease-relevant animal models, contributing to innovative healthcare solutions. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team—including biomedical engineers, synthetic biologists, chemists, electronic engineers, and clinicians—the postdoctoral fellow will engage in impactful research with potential for clinical and commercial translation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop bioelectronic devices for interaction with engineered cells aimed at advanced drug delivery applications.
- Lead and conduct pre-clinical testing using disease-relevant animal models.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team to drive complex research projects forward.
- Play a key role in translating research discoveries into real-world applications with clinical and commercial potential.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a closely related field, preferably a recent graduate.
- Demonstrated expertise in circuit design, wireless power transfer, and near-field communication technologies.
- Prior experience with bioelectronic device development is highly desirable.
- Experience in animal model testing is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Proven ability to work independently, with strong organizational and self-motivation skills.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- A solid publication record, including at least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
