Responsibilities

This position will be for an APP in Palliative Care.  

The NP/PA is part of a strong interdisciplinary Palliative Care and Hospice  team which includes 3 physicians, 5 nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, chaplains, and others who enjoy working together toward a common goal. The NP/PA cares for patients and their families who are experiencing advanced, life-threatening illness and helps them live as well as possible through excellent symptom management, advance care planning and psychosocial support. The Palliative & Supportive Care Service has been identified as a key area for growth organizationally and regionally. 

Palliative Care practice encompasses physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation with special emphasis on excellent symptom management and disease-specific counseling, as well as assessment and coordination of social, emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. The focus of the Palliative Care NP/PA is not on treating a particular illness but treating the whole person and family who are experiencing it through the course of the illness to end of life.



Qualifications

Active Wisconsin R.N. license or eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.  National certification (i.e. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner.  Wisconsin state APNP certification.

Physician Assistant candidates must be graduates of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensure as a PA by the Wisconsin Board of Medical Practice.  

Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care (CPHN or ACPHN) preferred but not required at time of hire.

BLS required. A minimum of 5 years nursing experience required.
