Responsibilities
The Cardiac Sonographer
Performs complete echocardiographic study integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data.
Documents patient data and echo exam information completely and accurately utilizing the Echo Information Management System.
Functions independently while using critical thinking and problem solving skills to obtain a comprehensive echocardiogram.
Collaborates with Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpretation of echocardiographic findings.
Assists in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory.
Demonstrates flexibility in learning all equipment. Must have an understanding of sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments.

Any of the following are required:
- Associates degree of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program
- Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program
- High school diploma with 5 years cardiac ultrasound experience and must be registry eligible.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum of one-year experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including experience with transesophageal and stress echo, preferred. Must have knowledge of pathology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures. Experience with mobile service operations helpful. Skills: Proven ability to work with co-workers, physicians, and all levels of health care professionals.
Expectations extend to include on-call practices, weekends, evenings and holiday coverage as needed.
License of Certification:
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible for RCS or RDCS. Register eligible employees must obtain RCS or RDCS registry within 2 years of hire. Current BLS certification.
