Responsibilities
The Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is a research group dedicated to developing and applying leading-edge electronics for the benefit of patients and sponsors and is seeking qualified engineers to support its various projects.
Directs medium-size project or technical work teams or provides technical leadership as a part of a larger project team in the areas of Hardware, Firmware, or Software Engineering which may include theoretical development, conceptualization, design, implementation, simulation, integration, test or analysis. Understands how project tasking or technical expertise fulfills overall group mission. Establishes project team or technical domain assignments and deadlines, proactively identifies and requests materials and tools needed to complete assignments. Works with sponsor and group leadership to identify and define new work and/or extensions to existing work. Able to clearly communicate status updates to group leadership and sponsors, as well as provide alternative solutions to better achieve program goals. Able to articulate and propose changes to project technical direction or group technical domain expertise. Based on project work or domain expertise, identifies external publication and presentation opportunities and contributes to publications/presentations. Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and minimum of 9 years of engineering experience.
Note: This position requires obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI clearance and adhering to security requirements as described in the NISPOM. Therefore, must be a U.S. Citizen.
Applies broad technical knowledge or is a recognized subject matter expert, capable of solving complex engineering tasks using state-of-the-art resources. Able to leverage expertise across multiple domains to meet group objectives. Through the careful review of reports, patents, literature and other data, maintains an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in the technical field as it pertains to the domain expertise. Maintains relevant technical skill base.
Experience in any of the following hardware engineering disciplines is desired:
- Integrated Circuit Design: Experience in various aspects of digital and/or mixed-signal IC design, including simulation, physical layout, and electromagnetic modeling of passive devices and transmission lines. Familiarity with various semiconductor technologies, such as CMOS, SOI, SiGe, and GaN. Must have experience with EDA design, simulation, and modeling software tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and/or Spectre/SpectreRF, Microwave Office, Keysight Advanced Design Systems (ADS), Sonnet, and/or Ansys HFSS.
- Digital design: Experience with Hardware Description Languages such as VHDL or Verilog and familiarity with FPGA programming and state-of-the-art Intel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx platforms is preferred.
- Signal/Power Integrity: Experience in various aspects of high frequency SI/PI analysis, including simulation and modeling of transceivers, voltage regulators, transmission lines, and passive structures. Familiarity with various electrical packaging technologies, materials, and structures. Must have experience with EDA simulation and modeling software tools such as HSpice, LTSpice, Keysight Advanced Design Systems (ADS), and/or Ansys HFSS.

$144,019.20 - $216,049.60 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
