Responsibilities

The Abdominal Imaging Division in the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona seeks an ABR-certified, fellowship-trained radiologist to join our cutting-edge subspecialty-focused clinical practice with exciting research and education opportunities.  The ideal candidate is an abdominal radiologist with expertise in MR and CT with additional expertise in GI fluoroscopy or Ultrasound.  Nationally and internationally recognized Abdominal Imaging leaders are eager to serve as mentors both clinically and academically to highly motivated, early to mid career applicants (< 10 years from fellowship) for this position in Phoenix, AZ.

The Abdominal Imaging Division is composed of 15 radiologists, many who also rotate in the Ultrasound Division. The diagnostic exams performed reflects the large number of liver and kidney transplants performed at Mayo Clinic Arizona, patients with complex medical/surgical histories, oncology patients, and non-trauma patients presenting to the Emergency Department for acute care. In addition, the Ultrasound Division has an active procedural service including transplant organ and targeted lesion biopsies. The Department of Radiology emphasizes high quality patient care and maintains an excellent working relationship with our colleagues in other disciplines.

Mayo Clinic Arizona has campuses located in Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ and is consistently ranked No. 1 in the state of Arizona by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals, with top 15 national designations for service lines in Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, top 40 for Urology and top 25 for Oncology.  Mayo Clinic Arizona has a top ranked medical school and is also affiliated with Arizona State University through an Alliance for Healthcare partnership.  The Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona currently has 60 radiologists, 5 physicists, 18 residents, and 1 abdominal imaging fellow.  The residency program is top ranked with planned expansion to 28 residents, including an IR/DR program starting in 2025.  Radiology equipment is state of the art and currently includes 9 MRI scanners (3T, 1.5T, 7T), one 3T PET/MRI, one 3T intraoperative MRI, 2 PET/CT scanners, and 8 CT scanners. In 2024, planned equipment installs are 2 additional MRs as well as additional CTs and US.  This will support the Mayo Clinic “Arizona. Bold. Forward” campaign which committed $750 million to add 1.4 million square feet to the Phoenix campus, doubling its size and resulting in approximately 400 inpatient beds.

Enjoy a great lifestyle and thrive in a dynamic, stimulating clinical practice with cutting-edge technology!  The Phoenix and Scottsdale Mayo Clinic Arizona campuses are located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert.  Known as the Valley of the Sun, the region is home to more than 4 million residents in 25 cities and towns.  Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the nation, a sunny "desert metropolis" that offers the amenities of a big city in the midst of a strikingly beautiful, rugged, southwest landscape.  Scottsdale’s more than 250,000 residents enjoy a vibrant mix of culinary hot spots, arts and entertainment, professional and collegiate sports teams, and community resources.  Scottsdale frequently earns praise as a highly desirable place to live.  The region's desert climate promotes an outdoor lifestyle with a full complement of sports and recreation.
