Responsibilities
The Certified Hand Occupational Therapist performs evaluation/re-evaluation, develops a plan of care, provides evidence-based treatment, assesses data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's needs. Combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure, function and activity of the upper limb in order to specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremity (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder girdle). Works closely with the patient, family, and members of a physician-led team in providing individualized patient treatment. Completes required documentation of care and appropriate billing consistent with professional guidelines. Engages in research, education and quality initiatives in pursuit of excellence in the provision of care and develops and carries out a personal plan for professional growth. Duties require extensive standing and walking, frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Requires heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning/transferring patients.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or university required.
Additional Qualifications:
- Advanced Certification as a Hand Therapist (CHT) required.
- An academic or professional doctorate degree is preferred (PhD, DSc, OTD).
License/Certifications:
- Current Arizona licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Current/Active Certification by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (CHT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
