Responsibilities

Provides the vision and strategic direction for enabling a comprehensive enterprise analytics function for the organization. Oversees the creation of business intelligence solutions in operational processes of a host of customer departments to meet business needs/requirements. Ensures the delivery of analytical applications that help end-users make better decisions and plans. Oversees, in conjunction with IT colleagues, the continued development and management of the enterprise's analytics environment (data warehouse/marts/semantic layers/reporting applications/cubes/ad-hoc). Oversees the deployment and management of business intelligence tools. Coordinates the selection and implementation of analytical software tools and applications. 

Collaborates with internal business stakeholders (customers), vendors, and industry consultants to resolve operational issues or performance issues with business intelligence tools. Oversees on-going development and operations of business intelligence tools and reports for both self-service and standard reporting. Works with business intelligence architecture and data warehouse teams to define requirements and implement enhancements to support business intelligence initiatives. Communicates data needs and any report deficiencies to R&D team. Recruits and retains staff that possesses and maintains a broad knowledge of Mayo's clinical and administrative systems and processes with an expert understanding of their interrelationship and dependencies in order to recommend business intelligence solutions that are aligned with operating goals and objectives. Provides leadership, guidance, counsel, and direction to the management and staff. 

Coordinates with other Division Chair(s) and Directors, Department Chairs and institutional leaders to ensure the delivery of high quality service to our patients and staff in a cost-effective manner. Translates the enterprise and department vision into meaningful and effective responses and results. Develops strategic and operational plans to carry out the mission of the division and the department. Supports and fosters opportunities to improve processes and acts as a catalyst for realizing these improvements. Acts as a facilitator and generator of new ideas and a mediator on difficult issues. Brings awareness of current external environment issues to the department. Participates in the management by chairing and serving on inter- and intra-sectional projects/groups, task forces and committees. Creates a customer service driven service line adept at working collaboratively with physician and administrative colleagues, and across department and enterprise lines. Articulates and effectively communicates the benefits of a shared service organization and delivers value that warrants investments in technology and the organization. Creates a team oriented work environment, which fosters staff development 



Qualifications

Requires a Master's degree in health care administration, business administration, IT or health related field and seven years of related experience or Bachelor's degree in relevant field with nine years of related experience. At least two years of previous management experience required. Experience with implementation of Oracle analytics strongly preferred. Data science experience preferred.

Demonstrated success in identifying and bridging business needs with technical solutions. Proven ability to effectively manage a budget and personnel, including ability to effectively build, lead, and motivate teams of individuals with diverse skills and abilities. Must have the ability to build successful, collaborative relationships with highest levels of physician and administrative leadership, and to understand and strategically apply analytics and analysis to complex needs of Mayo practice and evolving business needs. Must possess strong leadership, analytical, oral and written communication, and presentation skills, and superior interpersonal skills to facilitate effective relationships both within and outside of Mayo Clinic; solid organizational skills; track record in building positive, cross-functional relationships with both physicians and administrators. Must possess political savvy, ability to function effectively in the face of ambiguity and excellent relationship-building skills. Thorough understanding of analytics, the healthcare industry and business analysis, as well as high level computer proficiency and knowledge of technology trends is required. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively in consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle sensitive/proprietary information. Availability for some travel is required.
