ResponsibilitiesMayo Clinic is seeking an experienced IT Architect to join the Office of the CTO team. This role focuses on enterprise architecture, providing strategic and technical guidance to advance Mayo Clinic's partnerships and technology initiatives. The IT Architect will play a key role in putting our patients first by ensuring new and emerging bodies of work align to Mayo Clinic’s standards. This role will support bodies of work across the enterprise and navigate cross-functional teams and processes to identify, triage and mitigate risk and by helping to identify and narrow gaps by creating referenceable artifacts. Responsibilities include leading the strategic direction of digital solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and reviewing emerging technologies to ensure they align with Mayo Clinic's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain reference architectures to promote efficiency and consistency.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure alignment with organizational and technical strategies.
- Collaborate with various departments to maintain awareness of IT structures and interdependencies.
- Review and comprehend current and emerging technologies to ensure they align with Mayo Clinic's strategic goals.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations within the TAP team and to stakeholders.
- Maintain a general understanding of Enterprise Architecture and its impact on the organization.
- Serve as a change leader, promoting innovative solutions and continuous improvement.
- Participate in the development of multi-year strategic roadmaps.
- Ensure that technology solutions are strategic, compliant, and effectively meet the needs of Mayo Clinic.
- Capable of managing several tasks independently, efficiently, effectively, and timely.
Key Experience:
- Proven experience as a solution, application and/or enterprise IT architect or experienced Senior Engineer, Engineering Leader or Engineering Manager with experience designing, building, and running enterprise enabling tools/technology
- Experience with process improvement, automation, and technology governance.
- Ability to effectively review and comprehend emerging demand, new tools and technologies, and assess/articulate their potential value/impact.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Architecture principles and practices.
- Experience across a broad range of technologies including, but not limited to cloud, networking, IOT, in-house developed solutions, vended solutions, data storage / transit as well as security implications of the architecture.
- Experience in architecture governance over several areas of an organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Experience working in various methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking,
- Experience in healthcare.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with cloud computing and security architecture.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology management and information security.
- Ability to guide teams through complex technical initiatives.
- Making complex simple and bringing architecture into action by solving today’s problems in ways that allow us to go further, faster tomorrow.
This a full-time remote position. Incumbent must live within the United States. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and 5 years' experience including 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience; Or, Associate's degree and 9 years' experience including 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience.Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: business modeling, data design, information systems design, systems integration, and service design. Demonstrated oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, facilitation, and meeting management skills. Demonstrated expertise in one or more computing technologies. Demonstrated project and deliverable consistency through repeatable and reliable performance. Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks and assignments on time. Experience working in healthcare technology. Must be able to work independently and able to lead and mentor in a team environment. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
