Responsibilities

The Department of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine and the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center are seeking a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology to become a member of our Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) team. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is an energetic and growing Division within the Cancer Center. Currently the division has 10 pediatric hematologist/oncologists, 4 nurse practitioners, 8 specialty nurses, and 3 dedicated pharmacists. Two of the 10 physicians are BMT-trained, and the Division is seeking a 3rd BMT-trained physician.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology cares for approximately 200 newly diagnosed patients with cancer each year and performs 20-30 hematopoietic cell transplantations per year including allogeneic and autologous transplants, CAR T-cell therapy and other cellular therapy. The pediatric BMT program collaborates closely with the adult BMT program and is part of the William J. von Liebig Center for Transplantation and Clinical Regeneration. This collaboration brings unique opportunities for clinical and translational research. Our Pediatric-BMT program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

The BMT Physician will be part of Mayo Clinic’s educational mission and provide teaching for students, residents, and fellows. In addition to clinical duties, the ideal candidate will be an eager investigator who participates in clinical and/or translational research and partners with ongoing discovery and translational studies across the institution. At least .2 FTE will be allotted to provide protected time for academic, education, or administrative goals that align with candidate’s specific interests and expertise. Academic rank in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine will be granted commensurate with experience.
