Responsibilities
The Department of Molecular Medicine is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow in the lab of Dr. Patricia Devaux.
The main focus of Dr. Devaux’s lab is the development of safe and efficient negative strand RNA virus-based vectors for gene therapy and cellular reprogramming. This vector is based on the measles virus vaccine, one of the safest vaccines in the World. The group previously developed the measles virus into a single-cycle vector and expressed the four reprogramming factors identified as essential to reprogram somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The lab aims to develop new therapies for hematological disorders, cancer immunotherapy, and Diabetes based on integration-free measles vectors.
The recruited scientist will:
• Be involved in developing new Measles vectors for gene and cell therapy for hematological disorders.
• Collaborate with other group members to carry out the experimental work.
• Oversee the day-to-day activity of their project and report progress to Dr. Devaux.
• Be responsible for the proper collection, storage, record of their work and analysis of their data for presentation.
Previous research experiences in cellular biology and tissue culture are required, and expertise in the culture of iPSC or gene editing is highly desirable. Experience in virology is a plus but not required. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team are also requirements. The candidate will need a strong work ethic and will be someone with aspirations to teach other scientists.
A Zoom interview and research presentation are required for consideration.
Applicants should submit a CV, including a complete list of publications, a cover letter detailing how their expertise and training align with the description described above, a brief career plan, and the name and contact information for three references.
