Red Wing
Obstetrics & Gynecology
Position description
Do you want to practice at the top of your license as a community health midwife? Come work with a preeminent team of midwives in a world-renowned hospital system with a commitment to innovation! Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) Red Wing is seeking a third Certified Nurse Midwife to join a group of midwives, OB physicians and nurse practitioners in a team-based approach to maternal and women’s health care. The Mayo Clinic midwives at Red Wing enjoy all the benefits of full scope midwifery in a supportive hospital setting that feels more like a birth center than a big hospital. Join a collaborative team in the SE MN River Corridor OB/GYN Service-line, working to provide the highest standard of care based on Mayo Clinic values. Mayo Clinic midwives provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care along with well woman gynecologic care in the clinic setting. Labor and birth care is provided by the midwifery group with the assistance of the obstetrician when needed. The Rochester practice provides streamlined consultations and accepts referrals for high risk cases, and midwives in the SE MN River Corridor are given opportunities to take shifts at the Rochester campus. Midwives provide prenatal care through an innovative OB nest model that combines telehealth and hands-on provider care to reduce on-site visits and expand access to prenatal services based on patient preference. As a unit, obstetrics team members assist in the delivery of more than 300 babies each year.

The vision for the Certified Nurse Midwives at Mayo Clinic is to provide the best midwifery care in the world by modeling evidence based midwifery in a team-based approach to care. Midwives at Mayo Clinic believe that every patient deserves a midwife as part of their care and strive to support their patients in a holistic, whole person way while working with the first class medical care that is available in the Mayo enterprise.

As a Mayo Clinic midwife, you’ll enjoy high-level resource support in a collaborative, multi-specialty practice with access to specialists in maternal fetal medicine, medical genetics, reproductive medicine and other medical and surgical specialties as needed throughout the Mayo Clinic Enterprise. In an evidence-based practice where midwives are an integral part of the culture, you will have opportunities to pursue your professional passions in areas such as midwifery education, work as a faculty member, leadership activities, or the pursuit of research with strong institutional support. CNMs are eligible for faculty status through the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and provide didactic and clinical teaching to learners throughout their educational program. Mayo Clinic midwives receive support to further the midwifery credential on a national scale through engagement with professional associations, advocacy, publication, and presentation at conferences. Mayo Clinic focuses on clinical excellence, academic teaching, and research projects that further the advancement of medicine. Midwives have the opportunity to participate in all that Mayo Clinic has to offer as a valued provider among the team. Pursue your passion and contribute to the future of midwifery at the #1 hospital system in the United States.
