Position description
Mayo Clinic in Arizona is hiring 3 Clinical Health Psychologists to join our growing Department of Psychiatry and Psychology. This is one of three clinical health psychologist positions that will involve a diverse patient population with complex medical problems typical of a major tertiary referral center. The successful candidates would join the Division of Clinical Health Psychology with 3 other full- time clinical health psychologists (specializing in chronic pain, transplant, bariatric surgery and oncology), 2 LCSW therapists and 1 masters-level addiction counselor as well as a department with 6 psychiatrists and 5 neuropsychologists. We are a highly collaborative professional group, who work with specialized multi-disciplinary care teams throughout the hospital, clinic, and medical school. We are eager to have an additional clinical health psychologist to help grow our department and division.
The ideal candidate will have expertise as a clinical health psychologist providing empirically-supported evaluation and individual and group-based treatment interventions in one or more of the following priority specialty areas with willingness to expand their proficiency in the other domains: psycho-oncology, complex gastrointestinal conditions and functional somatic symptom disorders, candidates for bariatric surgery and non-surgical weight loss, chronic pain management, pre- and post- transplant consultation and integrated behavioral health in primary care.
License or certification
The position is primarily interventional support of the above populations. Training and skills in evidence-based psychological intervention is required. Interest or experience in building group-based protocols for the above service lines as well as biofeedback training consistent with BCIA certification would be of value (though BCIA certification is not required). Mayo Clinic requires all Psychologists to achieve and maintain board-certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology. If not already board certified, achievement of board certification is required within the first three years of employment prior to promotion to Consultant.
