Position description
The Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory including assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures and conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment. Responsibilities may also include preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating and scrubbing procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, acquire/measure/calculate hemodynamic date, perform blood work analysis, operate intra-cardiac ultrasound, clean procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for resterilization. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients. Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions with minimal supervision. Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab. Within the Cath Lab this may include structural procedurals and hemodynamics; within Heart Rhythm Services Lab, techs perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operate 3D mapping systems. Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing).
Requires at least 3 years of patient care experience, including at least 1 year with procedural/surgical working experience (areas could include: Cardiac Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, or EP/ Pacemaker Lab).
Additional qualifications
Candidate is expected to successfully meet eligibility requirements and pass Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) exam to become a certified RCES or RCIS within 18 months of hire into the position (unless candidate was hired prior to October 2002).
License or certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Incumbent in this role must be actively working to be a certified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), which would make them eligible for promotion to a Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $22.53 per hour.
