The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The EDT provides supportive care to the Emergency Department patients and performs approved procedures per policy. The EDT assists patients with activities of daily living and assists with the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge. Decision making and problem solving skills, spoken and written communication skills, and team building skills. Ability to perform duties in a self directed manner.
One year of experience as EMT preferred. One year acute care hospital experience, preferred. High school graduate or equivalent, preferred.
License or certification
Minimum EMT-Basic license. Effective July 1, 2014, all new Emergency Department Technician hires will be required to have a minimum of a EMT-Basic license. Current BLS certification.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.66 per hour.
Hours / Pay period
60 hours every two week pay period
8-12 hour shifts, days will vary depending on the needs of the department.
This position is required to float to our other Emergency Departments depending on the needs of the department.
Every other weekend and holiday rotation
