Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) seeking Medical Equipment Information Systems Specialists to join our team in performing preventative maintenance and repair on medical devices and equipment in a healthcare setting. Preferred experience as a biomed tech within a laboratory setting and experience working on laboratory equipment (PMs and repair). Biomedical Equipment Information Systems Specialists will work cooperatively with Engineering Technicians and Lab Service Technicians to be able to repair, service and maintain additional functionalities of complex instruments with embedded or attached Information Systems as part of the instrument operational package, and may be involved in the maintenance of computer workstations associated with medical equipment.

Preference may be given to biomedical equipment technicians with experience, and years of experience with laboratory environment and/or specifically performing PMs and repair on laboratory equipment. Looking for service technicians with experience servicing Roche chemistry, Sysmex hematology, Instrumentation Laboratory coagulation equipment, Siemens or other urine analyzers, Radiometer blood gas analyzers, or other core chemistry, hematology or coagulation laboratory instruments. Experience servicing other sophisticated laboratory equipment such as Microbiology, Flow Cytometry, Automated Liquid Handling, Microscopes or other optical devices are also applicable

Position description
The Biomedical Equipment Information Systems Specialist (BEISS) is responsible for the support, maintenance, and installation, of workstations, network devices, medical equipment, and multiple operating systems and software packages.

The BEISS is responsible for maintaining and updating documentation and assisting with purchasing decisions on assigned equipment in supported areas. The BEISS acquires, maintains and shares technical skills necessary to become and remain competent and proficient on the assigned equipment which integrates biomedical technologies with information systems. The BEISS is responsible for cross-training additional service technicians, must prioritize their work appropriately to provide quick response to service calls and work necessary overtime or on-call as required. The BEISS works effectively with and provides assistance and direction to support staff across departmental organizations. The BEISS should be customer focused, have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in biomedical equipment technology, information technology, electronics or other technology job related fields and two years' experience, or Associates degree in any field and 4 years' service experience in the biomedical and/or information technology field is required, or no education and 7 years' service experience in the biomedical and/or information technology field is required.

Training in biomedical equipment is preferred. Familiarization with medical terminology, human anatomy, physiology and chemistry is helpful. Knowledge of computer operating systems, system networking (LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN), database servers, digital imaging, DICOM and HL7 standards, PACS, and IHE (Integrating Healthcare Enterprise) initiatives is desirable.
License or certification
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $31 per hour.

Schedule details
Typical schedule is Monday to Friday with 8 hour shifts. Start and end times will be dictated by business need, and can vary including day shifts and swing or evening shifts. Other hours as needed by department in working with a team of Biomedical Equipment Technicians to provide 24 hour coverage of a highly complex laboratory equipment environment.
Weekend schedule
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work to accommodate lab and project schedules. Participation in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule maybe be required.
