Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Infectious Disease physician to join a collegial department.
This opportunity is 100% Infectious disease. The physician will provide patient care in the clinic and hospital settings and also provide physician leadership for Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship. MCHS NWWI Eau Claire is a fully integrated care system where hospital and clinic are located in the same building and is run by a single governing structure thus helping to facilitate care coordination and patient follow-up. In this setting physicians will:
  • Community practice with academic segment working with family practice residents and occasional medical students
  • this site is the regional lab for Mississippi River Corridor and for NW Wisconsin
  • Opportunity to work with all medical specialties in a setting where you see a wide variety of illnesses and disease states
  • Provide physician leadership to support Infection Prevention and Control initiatives
  • Provide Physician leadership to support Antimicrobial Stewardship

Hospital Practice: Consultations/Follow ups, no admissions. There is a large variety of infections: Endocarditis, orthopedic infections, pneumonias, zoonotic diseases, complicated soft tissue infections, endemic mycoses, tick-borne diseases. Minority of transplant-related infections. HIV/AIDS practice has increased due to being 1 of 2 practices in the NWWI region that provide this specialty care.

Clinic Practice: Post-hospital follow ups, travel clinic, and referrals from other physicians. We have IV antibiotic infusion center at our clinic with two skilled RNs supporting our practice in clinic. One Physician Assistant see patients in the ID clinic three times per week.

IPAC and Antimicrobial Stewardship: Infection control with a group of 4 registered nurses trained in infection control. Antimicrobial stewardship program with Pharmacy. No antimicrobial approval calls.
