The Advanced Analytics Services Unit within the Data Delivery Services Section is seeking a motivated individual to join the Data Discovery Team as a Lead Analyst Programmer. The team provides data discovery services and tools for researchers and physicians conducting research and applying data science concepts to clinical data. In addition to leading the current team activities, the individual filling this position will be involved in identifying opportunities for advancement of the unit.
The successful candidate in this position will possess the following skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage tasks/projects with varying degrees of priorities. Demonstrated knowledge of agile software development processes is required. Evidence of project management skills. Evidence of strong communication, organization, problem solving, and facilitation skills. Must possess the ability to communicate as appropriate to the audiences of varying technical capabilities. Demonstrated interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute plans to achieve goals that align with our unit’s vision. Ability to collaborate with researchers and physicians to identify their needs and provide tools and services to meet those needs.
Knowledge of data science concepts, tools, and technologies are preferred, but not required. These concepts, tools, and technologies include, but are not limited to AI, machine learning, data modeling, algorithm development, Google Cloud Platform, R, Python, Java / .NET.
Accountable for project results and goals set by senior Mayo leadership and provides updates to IT leaders on long-term goal attainment. Directly oversees the activities of the members of the team assigned to the development and maintenance of software-based systems in the supported areas. Provides leadership for the design or selection of solutions, creates and/or implements cross-functional project teams (intact or virtual), and brings together the hardware, software, and personnel responsibilities for implementing solutions to support a customer area. Develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case, and gains needed institutional approvals utilizing strong understanding of financial concepts, business processes, continuous improvement, and organizational development. Works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders. Partners with customers to understand their business needs and ensure the activities of the team meet their needs. Assists the Unit Head in personnel management and supervises staff on projects and assumes supervisory responsibilities for Unit/Division staff as assigned.
Will be required to provide 24/7 on-call support.
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience including 3 years’ of demonstrated leadership experience;
Or, Associates degree and 9 years’ experience including 3 years’ demonstrated leadership experience.

Evidence of strong communication, organization, problem solving, and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. Demonstrated history of continuing education in personnel and administrative processes. Experience with committee and consensus driven organizations. Some experience with personnel management, resource allocation, coaching and mentoring.
Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,416 based on a full-time position.
Hours / Pay period
M-F 8am - 5pm
Will be required to provide 24/7 on-call support.
This vacancy may be open to full time telework candidates within the U.S./ reasonable travel to a Mayo facility if ever a business need/ meeting or client-facing. Mayo Clinic has facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Florida.
