Position description
Performs various basic and advanced MRI examinations under the direction of the staff Radiologist and utilizing MRI equipment. Provides direct patient care to patients. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care. Rotates between Mayo Clinic Florida (MCF) and Mayo Hospital. Responsible for proper implementation of the scan sequences presented to him or her by the Radiologist. Must be knowledgeable in the areas of patient safety and contraindications to the examination. Is responsible for the implementation of the entire examination from start to finish. Greets patient in scan area and confirms the information on written questionnaire. Positions patient, and utilizes proper coil selection and scanning following the selected protocol. Ensures proper completion in RIMS and transfers examination to PACS to complete the overall procedure.
Must have graduated from an accredited Radiography Program. Associates degree strongly preferred. Current ARRT registration in Radiography and/or registry eligible. Current ARRT MR registry preferred. Three to five years experience as Radiologic Technologist preferred. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology cross sectional helpful.
Additional qualifications
Good observational and interpersonal skills required. Basic keyboarding skills required. Ability to efficiently problem-solve for task at hand. Demonstrate ability to maintain workflow. Demonstrate ability to deal with patients on a variety of levels. Demonstrate acuity in decision making for scan quality and preservation of schedule. Must be able to utilize the following equipment: Automated Radiology Practice, Magic Views, and Dry Views Radiographic equipment/MRI scanners telephone Bar Code Readers computers and printers copy machines oxygen equipment Code cart IV pumps Power Injectors patient transport equipment patient safety equipment software: Word Perfect, Excel, RIMS, PowerChart, CareNet, PowerLaunch. Must possess the ability to problem solve while dealing with a diverse set of systems and individuals. Must be able to maintain effective and efficient workflow through the clinical areas of Radiology. Significant discretion and knowledge of department required in order to effectively prioritize workload. Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift 51 to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to reach above shoulder level and endure occasional twisting and turning. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing. Must be able to hear at ordinary conversation level, and possess good visual acuity. Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.
License or certification
Current ARRT registration in Radiography and/or registry eligible. Current ARRT MR registry preferred.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $27.97 per hour.

Initial shift would consist of Monday - Friday, 2:45 p.m.- 11:15 p.m.

Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change as department needs change.

Call coverage will consist of one week per quarter, and one holiday every other year.
