It’s an exciting time of growth and we invite you to be part of A Life Changing Career through a position as an APP supporting Hospital Internal Medicine. The Division of Hospital Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple conditions including but not limited to hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and bowel obstructions in complex medical patients. The team provides innovative, comprehensive care for both routine diagnosis as well as critically ill patients, in a facility and in the community. We are an intricate part in the co-management with other specialties to ensure positive patient outcomes. In addition, we are involved with evidence based research, healthcare innovation, and publishing for the advancement scientific medicine.

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works cooperatively with MD's, other APP’s, RN's and other allied health personnel performing the following tasks in any authorized setting, including the home setting:
-Obtaining patient history
-Performing physical examinations
-Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
-Formulating a diagnostic impression
-Developing and implementing a treatment plan
-Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
-Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
-Making appropriate referrals
-Maintains prescribing and dispensing privileges in Wisconsin.
-Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
Qualifications
New graduates may be considered; however, 2 years' Advance Practice Provider experience preferred.

Additional qualifications
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong computer skills.

Must be flexible and willing to handle extended hours and on-call responsibilities (evenings, weekends, and holidays) if need arises in the department.
License or certification
Current Wisconsin RN license and certification as an APNP.

Or Physician Assistant certification by NCCPA and licensure as a PA by the Wisconsin Board of Medical Practice.

Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges.

BLS and ACLS required.

Drivers License and acceptable driving record required.

A driving record will be considered unacceptable if it reports any of the following:
  • Any combination of motor vehicle accidents and moving violations that total four or more incidents within the last 36 months.
  • One or more of the following citations or convictions within the last 5 years:
    • Driving while intoxicated
    • Driving under influence of drugs
    • Operating a motor vehicle during a period of license suspension or revocation
    • Reckless driving
    • Hit-and-run
    • Any other violation that indicates inability to drive safely
  • Driving restrictions that would conflict with job duties (e.g., restricted driving hours).
  • A driving citations or convictions considered more serious than the above (e.g., causing bodily harm/felony level).

In addition to the above requirements, 100% of days worked require travel to patient homes and may involve hospital-based shift work during the day. Additionally, weekend daytime coverage is a requirement.

Hours: 12 hour shifts during daytime hours

Weekend schedule
Weekend rotation will be established; will be part of the 12 hour schedule rotation.
