Position description
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their dynamic Orthopedic Trauma Surgery team. The NP or PA collaborates with a variety of Orthopedic staff consultants, fellow/senior residents, and multiple medical specialties in all aspects of patient care. This position involves coverage of the Emergency Department when the service is on call, as well as inpatient and outpatient care responsibilities. The position is also responsible for diagnosing, interpreting laboratory studies, reviewing radiographic images, and performing physical assessments in a team model and independent clinical practice. Hospital rounds may be required by the assigned service. Opportunities also exist for coverage of other Orthopedic services and research. Potential to participate in research and publications depending on the assigned service and the needs of the Department.
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Must have current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP, ACNP or ANP,

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

Candidate must be eligible for DEA registration..
Additional qualifications
One to two years of clinical and/or surgical experience preferred.

Completion of BLS course required and ACLS preferred.

Ability to work in a team-based atmosphere with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential for effective interactions with patients, family members, and colleagues in multiple disciplines. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
