Position description
The Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) will work closely with a team of two physicians and a registered nurse (our department care team model), evaluating outpatient Radiation Oncology patients for treatment, contributing to the treatment plan, and managing the care of patients undergoing radiation therapy. The incumbent will be part of a team of seventeen Rochester-based NP/PA providers. The NP/PA may also have the unique opportunity to practice independently—managing an individual calendar of patients seen for follow up visits—as well as work collaboratively with team physicians to see new consults and weekly patient treatment visits. Provision of care may include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer. Inpatient hospital consults will also be seen by the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, in collaboration with a consultant. The NP/PA will have the opportunity to grow professionally by providing cross-coverage for other subspecialty radiation oncology physicians at Charlton SL Desk R/Jacobson SL West. NP/PA’s are encouraged to participate in research and publications, as well as quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certified as a FNP.

Or, a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional qualifications
Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
