Precision oncology is an approach to patient care that allows the selection of treatments that are tailored to the genomic landscape specific to each person’s cancer. The Precision Oncology Clinic will launch in 2021 and is a strategic priority for the Division of Medical Oncology. The interdisciplinary contributions of a pharmacist will be critical to the success of this program. Potential job functions of the Precision Oncology Pharmacist 0.5 FTE may include: conducting comprehensive medication history and reconciliation, identifying actionable drug/gene combinations, providing clinical recommendations on available commercial or clinical trial medications for safe use based on concurrent medications and drug interactions, providing patient education on actionable drug/gene combinations and therapy, assisting in medication procurement or clinical trial enrollment and collecting patient outcomes data. The practice of the Cancer Center Precision Oncology Pharmacist is expected to grow in FTE as the Precision Oncology Clinic expands over the next several years.

The Research Pharmacist Support portion of this FTE will be synergistic with Precision Oncology to enhance knowledge of available cancer clinical trials at Mayo Clinic. The research pharmacist works collaboratively with personnel across the Mayo Clinic enterprise as well as Cancer Center Research investigators, Mayo investigators, research coordinators and nurses to assist in the development, budgeting and implementation of Cancer Center Research protocols. The research pharmacist will also participate in drug-drug interactions screening for patients going onto clinical trials.
Position description
Responsible for preparing, organizing and implementing research support services and materials provided through Hospital Pharmacy Services to clinical investigators at the Mayo Medical Center. Serves as a resource to investigators and study coordinators in the development/ budgeting/ implementation of research protocols. Serves as a resource to the GCRC in the implementation of research related pharmaceutical practices / services.
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience includes at least two years of relevant pharmacy practice experience. Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and team work. Skills in procedural / professional writing and professional presentations. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and data base applications. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organize time well, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional qualifications
The following are preferred: Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency and/or fellowship and/or one year relevant pharmacy experience. Experience in a Pharmacy research and a Pharmacy investigational drug service. History of scholarly activities including publication and scientific meeting presentations. Experience and / or interest in teaching.
License or certification
License to practice Pharmacy in the State of Minnesota.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $4,870.40, based on a full-time position.
