Position description
The Project Manager / Senior Engineer (PM) leads project teams through the entire project life cycle to design and develop multi-disciplinary biomedical-related engineering systems. The PM will lead projects in partnership with a Technical Lead: the PM has broad responsibility for overall project activities that include interactions with physician champions, regulatory needs, critical path, aligning scope and value with best use of resources, and following safety processes; in contrast, the partner Technical Lead’s focus is the solution’s design, development, and verification.
The PM will provide work direction to project team members and ensure the project has appropriate resources for the technical needs of the project, as well as ensuring development processes are followed that will deliver novel products for use at Mayo Clinic.

The candidate must be able to work with limited oversight, taking responsibility to effectively and efficiently achieve the results of the project. The best qualified candidate will have previously demonstrated success in multi-disciplinary new product development in the electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines. They will have demonstrated leadership roles on projects and experience in project management. Experience with medical device development is desired but not required. The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is not required but is favorably viewed because it demonstrates aptitude applicable to this role. The PM should be able to discuss past success in an environment where work was ambiguous and day to day tasks not always well-defined.
The PM will not formally manage staff but does play a leadership role in the work unit, working with other project managers and management to move projects forward as well as oversee continuous improvement activities. The PM will oversee a wide variety of assignments, and manage diverse, concurrent activities. Skills in communicating and planning are key to this position.
BS in Engineering or a related field and 5 years of professional engineering experience; Or MS in Engineering or related field and 3 year of professional engineering experience; Or, PhD in Engineering or related field and 1 year of professional engineering experience.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,318.00 based on a full-time position.

Schedule details
Typically Monday - Friday, but will require and allow some flexibility based on project needs. We anticipate this candidate to work on site at the Rochester Mayo campus approximately 2 days a week with the remaining days being allowed to telework.
