The Regenerative Neurobiology group at Mayo Clinic is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to investigate mechanisms of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) therapy in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
These studies will utilize data and biospecimens from Phase I (completed – PMID: 27784774) and Phase II (ongoing - https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03268603) clinical trials of intrathecal autologous adipose-derived MSCs in ALS. Our preliminary in vitro and ex vivo studies suggest that MSCs secrete growth factors and modulate the immune system in patients with ALS, and future studies will extend and build upon this work.
