Research Fellow - Neurology

Position description
Our research lab ( ) conducts human studies of post-traumatic headaches that occur after concussion, as well as studies of migraine and other headache types. We utilize complementary research methods including structured patient interviews, patient questionnaire completion, neurophysiology testing (e.g. cutaneous pain thresholds, visual discomfort thresholds), and functional and structural brain magnetic resonance imaging.

The Research Fellow will be working on a new research project that will utilize methods described above to investigate mechanisms and predictors for post-traumatic headache becoming persistent. The research also includes a clinical trial that will study a new therapy for treating post-traumatic headache and preventing its persistence.

The Research Fellow will be expected to assist with research data collection and data analyses. If needed, the Fellow will be trained on principles of human studies research, methods of collecting data via structured interviews, neurophysiology testing procedures, and brain imaging. The Fellow will assist with data processing and analysis. The Fellow will be expected to contribute to dissemination of research results through publications and presentations.

The Research Fellow will be fully integrated into our research team. They will work directly with the principal investigators, research scientists, other research fellows, program manager, research coordinators, and trainees. The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to teach other members of the research lab, learn from other lab members, work to test existing research hypotheses, and develop and test their own research hypotheses. They will author research manuscripts and abstracts.
