The Nurse Residency Program at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, builds leaders at the bedside by assisting new graduate nurses as they transition from being students to being competent, skilled registered nurses.


The Nurse Residency Program at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, builds leaders at the bedside by assisting new graduate nurses as they transition from being students to being competent, skilled registered nurses.

This yearlong, evidence-based program consists of a series of seminars, discussions, simulations and classroom instruction. The curriculum includes three primary areas of content:

  • Patient safety
  • Leadership
  • The professional role

Nurse residents are paired with a mentor throughout the Nurse Residency Program. The program's effectiveness is regularly measured through participant feedback and the Casey-
Fink Graduate Nurse Experience Survey.

Eligibility

Eligible to apply to the Nurse Residency Program are individuals who have graduated or will be graduating from an accredited school of nursing and are newly licensed within the past 12 months (or license-eligible).

A Florida R.N. license is not required to apply but is required before starting the program.
